OUR APPROACH

Different pathways.
Careful understanding.

Gender dysphoria has heterogeneous developmental pathways. Our teaching centres on understanding those differences and their implications for assessment, formulation and psychoeducation.

Explore Dr Morandini’s research

Typological

Distinguish developmental pathways, including the androphilic and autogynephilic pathways in natal males. Keep sexual orientation, identity, gender dysphoria and transition desire conceptually separate.

Autism-informed

Attend to communication, cognitive style, developmental history and co-occurring difficulties within an individual formulation.

Evidence-based

Examine research alongside clinical application. Identify what a study establishes, the theoretical model being used and where evidence is limited.
